Dear Friends,

Arizona?s opportunity to become the fifth state to pass a resolution opposing the USA PATRIOT ACT is SCR1031. Over 370 cities nationwide have passed similar resolutions, including three cities and one county in Arizona. Twenty-three of our thirty senators sponsored SCR1031 and, on February 7, it unanimously passed the Judiciary Committee with only one minor change. Unfortunately, this resolution may die in the Rules Committee. The bill must pass the Senate and be sent to the House prior to April 1.

Show your support by urging Arizona?s senators to show theirs! Contact the members of the Rules Committee, starting with Chair, Robert Blendu. Three of the five committee members, including the Vice Chair, are sponsors of the bill. We need to let our legislators know that we want this resolution passed!

For more information on this resolution and other legislative business, visit the Arizona State Legislature website at www.azleg.state.az.us. Or, feel free to contact us with your comments and questions at www.valley-bordc.org.

We cannot afford to waste one precious moment! The deadline is fast approaching!

Sincerely,

Paul and Rebecca Gann
